Residents of Inila Ijesa community near Ibala in Obokun local government area have appealed to government of Osun to as a matter of urgency check the criminal activities of illegal miners in the community , and across Ijesaland.
This is coming on the heel of an alleged attack on some farmers by suspected miners who were largely from the northern part of the country.
The farm owner simply identified as Baba Ola, and wife narrowly escaped been killed by whisker.
According to report, some illegal miners yesterday invaded a cocoa plantation known as Oko baba Ola in Inila-Ijesa , and started mining , destroying several cocoa stands in the processes.
It was gathered that police have arrested some of the suspects .
Meanwhile, concerned residents of the area have warned Illegal miners ,to stop destroying cash crops and others farm produces in Inila Ijesa.
The people eulogised the DPO Ibokun for acting fast, and equally arrested about 5 suspects in connection with the alleged invasion and threat to life.
They therefore urged Governor Gboyega Oyetola, to put mechanism in place , to check the excesses of the illegal miners, who have continued in a brazen manner, destroying huge farmlands in Ijesaland, while searching for gold , and other mineral resources, that are largely deposited in Ijesaland.
While reacting , Hon Oladiran Ashaolu who is the House leader of Obokun Council Area , warned the leadership of Hausa , Fulani , Kadarah communities and a host of others ,to desist from such barbaric attitude, adding that the people of Inila Ijesa will do everything possible to resist invasion , and threat to their peace.
