Osun Election: RP Warn INEC not to compromise

The state Chairman for the Restoration Party of Nigeria RP in osun state, Comrade Tosin Odeyemi has  urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to compromise its integrity for anything over the osun Governorship election result declared inconclusive.
Odeyemi made this call today while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo said with the improvement in the electoral process, it is difficult for anybody to rig the election.
The election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the ground that the number of cancelled votes: 3,498, exceeded the difference between the two leading parties which is 353.
Odeyemi maintain that the vote of Osun electorate must be allowed to speak.
The RP boss said INEC as a matter of urgency must declare the winner of the election based on the Saturday September 22nd Governorship poll in the state, adding that no one is supporting the proposed Re-run election, saying the  re-run was ordered to favour the ruling party.
"we know that the re-run was ordered to favour the ruling party all because we can't buy a vote for 300k" he said
It would be recall that INEC has fixed Thursday 27th of September for a rerun in the areas where the votes were cancelled.

Osun Election: PDP Rejects INEC Declaration of Osun Guber as Inconclusive

L-R: Oyetola, Adeleke and Omisore
Press Conference

Osun: PDP Rejects INEC Declaration of Osun Guber as Inconclusive

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejects in its entirety, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC’s) declaration of the September 22, 2018 Osun State Governorship election as inconclusive.

The PDP insists that the process was conclusive and that its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who won a total of 254, 698 votes, is in clear lead and should be immediately declared winner by INEC, having met the requirements of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Section 179 (2) (a)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, (as amended), is clear and very unambiguous in spelling out the conditions for returning a candidate to the office of governor of a state.

This section states inter-alia, “A candidate for an election to the office of Governor of a State shall be deemed to have been duly elected where, there being two or more candidates - (a) he has the highest number of votes cast at the election; and (b) he has not less than one-quarter of all the votes cast in each of at least two-thirds of all the local government areas in the State.

The declaration of the election as inconclusive, by INEC is therefore a sordid robbery of the franchise of the people of Osun State, who participated in the election.

It is obvious that having failed in their schemes to alter the final results due to the resistance of the people, the APC had to bear pressure on INEC to declare the election inconclusive so as to pave way for the perfection of their manipulative schemes, which the people of Osun state have firmly resisted so far.

Instead of yielding to the evil machination of the APC, INEC should have summoned the patriotic courage to immune itself and end this needless controversy by returning the PDP and declare our candidate as the winner.

It is instructive to state that the PDP will no longer accept inconclusive elections as subterfuge by the APC attain its dubious electoral manipulative schemes in our nation.

The people of Osun state and the entire nation are already aware that the PDP won this election. They have the authentic figures from the polling units and know the candidate the voters prefer.

The people by their votes, have overwhelmingly declared for our candidate and we are not ready to accept any attempt by anybody to use any means whatsoever to steal our mandate freely given by the people.

The PDP is for peace, but we will not hesitate to use every force available in a democracy to face any attempt to subvert the will of the people or rig us out in this election.

The PDP therefore charges the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to avoid the fury of the people by immediately reversing this fraudulent decision of the Resident Electoral Commissioner and declaring our candidate the winner of the election. Anything short of this is definitely not acceptable to the PDP and the people of Osun and it is a direct recipe for crisis.

Finally, the PDP cautions INEC and the APC to note that the game is up. The people of Osun state have decided in favour of the PDP and that has become a fact that can never be altered.

Kola Ologbondiyan
National Publicity Secretary

2018: Osun future is assured with me - Mercy Ayodele RP

ILA– AHEAD of the Saturday September 22nd Governorship election in osun , the governorship candidate of the Restoration Party of Nigeria RP, Hon Mrs Mercy Ayodele on Monday affirmed that she  remains the best guber candidate for osun, as the state is well assured under her watch as the Governor.
Ayodele made this declaration while paying homage to the Orangun of Ila, Oba Abdulwahaab oyedotun on Monday as part of her campaign.

Mercy Ayodele maintain that her administration is based on five - cardinal programme. "The first one is Youth Empowerment Programme for small scale enterprises because as we will all agree , any economy that is not based on small scale enterprises cannot survive . We have met with different groups and traders . We are giving them our words that we are going to give them soft loans, without interest and we are also looking at how they can start their own contributory pension scheme. My mother is also an artisan and I know how much it means to have something to fall back on at retirement . Workers welfare is also part of the plan. We will ensure payment of workers’ salaries as and when due. We are looking at how we are going to sit down and renegotiate the backlog with a view to ascertaining how we can pay it without affecting our governance . Also, on education, we are going to work on the existing structure and make sure that we develop our teachers by making them work more because from the research I made , Osun is on the 29 th position in the WASSCE ranking , leaving us well below five northern states and that ’ s a very bad signal . This is not about policy ; it is about the stakeholders , which comprise the teachers . Are they well paid and motivated ? We believe if they are given salaries as and when due, they will perform better .

We are also going to work on rural development through agriculture and I want to tell you that Osun State can feed the whole of the South - West . We want to give loans to the real farmers, not those who are sitting down in their office acting as farmers. I went to a rural area recently and I was sad with the deplorable state I met their roads . It is not passable at all and there is the need for us to look into this so that there would be a network between them and the urban areas .
We will ensure a perfect health system in form of insurance. Most of our hospitals are not well equipped and we are looking at how we would partner local drug manufacturers so that they will , in turn , employ more people to work for them too. Most of our doctors have fled the state as a result of the modulated salary; we want to bring them back and give them what is due"  she said

Poem: BE PATIENT !! By Tunji Oyeleye

BE PATIENT !!

Let us not run the world hastily.
Let us not grab the rope of wealth impatiently.
What should be treated with with mature judgement,
Let us not treat in a fit of temper;
Whenever we arrive at a cool place,
Let us rest sufficiently large well;
Let us give prolonged attention to the future
And then give due regards to the consequences of things;
These will surely form part of our account of sojourn hereafter.

By Omoloju-Olodumare Abefe

Kunle Daramola Title: Tunnel of the lips

Humanity greatest power, her biggest rival.
Truth lies beneath false judgement;
the lips the torch to the tunnel; the words of the sweetest lips drops the garments
of gullible and smart men.
Only the strong can continue; is it?,
only the brave  will continue...

Don’t sell your votes, Akinyode urges Osun voters

The National Youth Leader  of the Restoration Party of Nigeria Comrade Bolaji Akinyode on Monday advised electorates in Osun  especially youths, not to sell the destiny of the state by voting for money.
Comrade Akinyode stated this during a meeting with some youths forum in Osogbo, osun capital ahead of the September 22nd Governorship election in the state.
According to him, anyone who is willing to buy his way into any electoral office does not have the good of the people at heart but rather wants to serve his own interest.
“Money politics is the fundamental problem with Nigeria’s leadership; the mentality that if you must conduct election, you must spray money is what is killing us.
“That is why when people eventually get there, they will start stealing to recover their money; my appeal is don’t sell your votes; look for integrity.
“Always vote people you can question or trust to help develop Nigeria.
He said the party  would begin sensitisation of the electorate in Osun to the ills inherent in the vote- for - cash syndrome , describing it as the worst thing to ever happen to any society .
Akinyode appealed to voters in the state  to desist from exchanging their votes for material things like money in the forthcoming election.

Bankole Afilaka Opakan Withdraws from Race

Chief Daniel Bankole Afilaka, popularly called  Opakan, an aspirant for the House of Representative under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has withdrawn from the race,
Afilaka announced his withdrawal from the race in a statement on Sunday.

Press Statement by Chief Daniel Bankole Afilaka on withdrawal of candidacy to.run for HOR Ijesha South Federal Constituency under the PDP.

Gentlemen of the press, party leaders and well wishers alike; I am using this medium  to convey my decision to withdraw my aspiration for candidacy in the forthcoming general elections in 2019 as a Member of the National Assembly representing the good people of Ijesha South Federal Constituency following  extensive review of our political landscape and more importantly the readiness of our party the PDP to take over the mantle of leadership in our dear Osun State.

My decision is hinged on two critical factors; one being the opportunity afforded me to look critically at the way our party is currently being run at the Ward,  Local and State levels as well as the readiness of our people in general to move away from the one track mindedness with which Ijesha politics has been characterized since the advent of democratic politicking in Nigeria.

In view of both these points and my personal reservations that our dear party appears to still be yet to learn critical lessons after being in political opposition for almost 8 years; i hereby regrettably withdraw my candidacy to focus on my business and support whoever i believe may add value to the lives  of our great people amongst all the current aspirants at the Ward, Local, State, Senatorial and National levels.

For the avoidance of doubt, i have not cast my lot with any aspirant and wish them all equal luck in their political oddysey.

I thank all the members of the OPA Artisans Network, OPA Students Network, OPA Youth Movement and all other appendant organizations that have shown grit in making the necessary moves to give me a good chance at implementing my lofty ideals for our people.

I also thank all the Party leaders who at some point played host to me during my declaration and subsequent tours across the 4 local governments of Ijesha South Federal Constituency.

Thanks for your understanding as whilst being the flag bearer of our dear party would have been an honour, it is also important that i stand  firm about my principles in democratic politics.

Signed

Daniel Bankole Afilaka
House of Reps Aspirant
Ijesha South Federal Constituency

APC Cautions Members Against Participating In ” Illegal Meeting On Mode Of Elections”

The All Progressives Congress has threatened to sanction its members who participate in what it said is an ” illegal meeting” aimed at faulting the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) and NEC of the party on the mode of election to pick its candidates for the 2019 electionns.
Recall that APC’s NWC had Friday, made clarification in the decision of its NEC, stating that all elections to select candidates for the 2019 general elections would be by direct primaries at all levels.
It also said any state executive of the party that is using indirect primary should get endorsement of the NWC.
But the party claimed that the alleged illegal meeting fixed for 2pm at Transcorp Hilton Hotel ,Abuja on Sunday was called by ” some members of our party organs” to puncture the sincere efforts of the Comrade Adams Oshiomohle led NWC.
Yekini Nabena vowed in statement that the NWC would resist attempt to disrupt the prevailing peace in the party following defection of some members to the opposition parties, warning to deal with organizers of the meeting.
The statement read :
“The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to an illegal meeting scheduled to hold on Sunday at Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja by some members of our Party organs, with a view to fault the decisions made by the NWC followed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) as regards the mode of the Party’s primary elections.
“We want to state clearly that the meeting which has been fixed for 2pm is illegal and an attempt to puncture the sincere efforts being made by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC to reposition our Party ahead the 2019 General Elections and to ensure unity, equity and justice in the Party.“The outcome of such meeting which is already known will be a nullity and we admonish our members to disregard such meetings in the interest of the Party. It is illegal to call such meetings outside the purview of the constituted authority.
“The identities of those plotting such meetings have been identified and unless they desist from such they will be dealt with in line with the Party’s Constitution at the appropriate time.
“The NWC will resist any attempt to disrupt the current peace and harmony prevailing in our great Party after the exit of some members of our Party.
“We urge any member who is not satisfied with the decisions of the Party to utillize channels provided by the Party’s constitution to air their views.
“We remain focused in delivering good governance to Nigerians and above all ensuring the victory for our Party come 2019 and we will not be intimidated by the antics of a few in ensuring success for our Party”.
